The Secrets to AutoCAD Productivity Revealed!
Instructor:  Matt Murphy

Productivity is a goal of every Autodesk product user. Yet most users fail to gain true productivity. Just using AutoCAD every day does not in itself make you more productive. Learn how to tap into the power of new features, identify your design shortfalls and improve productivity immediately. It’s time to choose the shortest, most efficient techniques and eliminate your repetitive steps and tasks. Wouldn’t you be more productive if you could eliminate half of the clicks and picks you’re making today?

Session 1

AutoCAD®

AutoCAD® 2007

(S1-1) The Do’s and Don’ts of Dynamic Blocks Revealed!
Instructor:  Matt Murphy

Blocks are the oldest form of reusable content known to AutoCAD users. Although the concept remains unchanged, there have been major developments that make Blocks more powerful. Dynamic Blocks have added a new level of power and complexity that is not easily mastered. Discover how the new grip and action features of Dynamic Blocks will increase your efficiency and productivity. You will not only learn how to build new Dynamic Blocks, but how to quickly and easily apply the new ideas to the existing Block libraries you use in AutoCAD every day.

Revit

Autodesk® Revit® Building

(S1-2) Revit Up with Phasing and Design Options
Instructor:  Kevin Evans

Buildings are developed and assembled over time. Unfortunately, traditional CAD software does not recognize that information well. Revit Building provides us with the ability to design and document in phases of construction. In this class, we will address phasing tools and how to use phasing effectively in our designs. When working with multiple design options, it can be difficult when waiting for decisions to be made. Revit Building allows us to create and develop multiple schemes, and then resolve those options into the model and coordinate the drawing set instantly.

Civil

AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2008

(S1-4) Using Civil 3D 2008 for Stormwater Management Tasks
Instructor:   Dana Breig Probert, E.I.T.

This class will show you how to harness the power of Civil 3D 2008 to assist in designing and performing a TR-55 or Rational Method Stormwater Management Analysis, as well as designing a pipe network for storm drainage. Though the case study used in this class is a drainage design, anyone interested in learning more about surfaces and pipe networks, and creating tables and expressions for any application are encouraged to attend. We’ll take you from building a surface from aerial topo data to complete surface analysis for pipe tables and schedules.

Session 2

AutoCAD

AutoCAD® 2007

(S2-1) The Productivity Power of Palettes Revealed!
Instructor:  Matt Murphy

There is more to Tool Palettes than just a quick way to add blocks and hatch patterns to your drawing. Palettes provide the shortest, most efficient way to increase your productivity without programming and customization. In this session you will learn the hidden techniques to migrate existing toolbars and macros into Palette Content Tools. You’ll also learn how to create and manage shared palettes and palette groups. This session is for any user of AutoCAD (or LT) 2004–2007 who wants to gain a comprehensive understanding of and full productivity using AutoCAD Tool Palettes.

Revit

Autodesk® Revit® Building

(S2-2) Working with Schedules in Revit Building
Instructor:  Kevin Evans

Schedules are an essential part of the Architectural document set. They can often be tedious to create and difficult to coordinate. In this class we will examine the power behind Revit’s scheduling tool and learn how to create schedules of walls, doors, rooms, furniture and most anything you need to count. From stock fields to custom parameters and exporting out, we will cover the methods for adding tags and techniques for creating, editing and managing your schedules. We’ll also cover exporting schedules and data.

Civil

AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2008

(S2-4) Building a Subdivision from Boundary to Plat with Civil 3D 2008
Instructor:   Dana Breig Probert, E.I.T.

This class will focus on the parcel creation and analysis tools in Civil 3D 2008. We will leverage free GIS data such as FEMA floodlines, wetlands inventory and adjacent parcel boundaries as well as topography and image information from Google Earth to assist us in our initial design. Then we will go through Parcel creation best practices and create a labeled site plan. Finally, we’ll cover simple visualization ideas for effective public hearings and presentations.
